Is the drive from Clinton Township to Madison Heights worth it?
That is your call, so here is what the trip gets you: carbon or ceramic film under the manufacturer's lifetime limited warranty, a shop that is climate-controlled (heated and cooled), insured, and gated with an alarm, and an inspection of every window before the car leaves. Most vehicles take 2 to 4 hours.
Multiple times a week, customers come to us to have bubbling, purple or peeling tint from other shops fixed, and in our experience cheap tint fails after six months. That is why we install only carbon and ceramic film.
What is the route from Clinton Township to your shop?
Clinton Township covers about 28 square miles, so the route depends on where you start, and a map app will give you the turns. Our shop is at 436 E 14 Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071, on the 14 Mile Road that I-75 exit 65 serves.
Two fixed points help you plan. Dequindre Road is the Oakland–Macomb county line and Madison Heights' eastern border, and I-696 crosses it at exit 20. From there I-696 west reaches the I-75 interchange at exit 18, and I-75 north reaches exit 65.
How big is Clinton Township?
Clinton Township is the most populous township in Michigan, with 100,513 residents at the 2020 census, and it is about 22 miles northeast of downtown Detroit.
Gratiot Avenue (M-3) and Romeo Plank Road run through it, the Clinton River forms within it, and Mount Clemens, the Macomb County seat, is bordered on three sides by the township's northeast part.
What should I ask any tint shop before I book?
Ask which film you are getting, what warranty comes with it, how long the job takes, what aftercare it needs, and who checks the work. These are our answers:
| Ask | Our answer |
|---|---|
| Which film? | Carbon or ceramic. Ceramic is our premium film and reduces interior heat; carbon keeps its color. |
| What warranty? | The manufacturer's lifetime limited warranty, for as long as the original customer owns the vehicle. It covers peeling, cracking, adhesive failure, delamination and purple color change, with replacement as the remedy, and ghosting isn't covered. |
| How long does it take? | 2 to 4 hours for most vehicles. |
| What do I do afterward? | Keep the windows up for 5 days, don't wash the film for 30 days, and keep your warranty card and proof of purchase. |
| Who checks the work? | We inspect every window before the car leaves. |
Does Michigan's tint law change from Macomb County to Oakland County?
No. MCL 257.709 is a statewide statute, so it reads the same in both counties. It limits film on the windshield and front side windows to a strip along the top edge, exempts nonreflective tint on the rear side windows and rear window, and names no darkness percentage.
Our Michigan window tint laws guide covers each window. This isn't legal advice, and we go over what's allowed on your vehicle when you choose your film.
Which Macomb County cities have their own tint pages?
Warren and Sterling Heights, both in Macomb County, have their own pages, along with Madison Heights and Troy just across the county line.
Can I get something besides tint done at the same shop?
Yes. Paint protection film, ceramic coating, auto detailing, vinyl wrap and lighting are all offered at the Madison Heights shop. Request a free window tint quote first, or read about the other services:
