Should I get film, a ceramic coating or both?

Film takes the physical damage and a coating makes the car easier to wash, so they do different jobs. A coating adds gloss but does not stop rock chips, and many customers put a coating over the film.

How do I get from Northville to Elite Auto Lab?

Go north to Novi, take I-696 east and follow it to I-75. Novi borders Northville to the north, and I-696 begins in Novi as a left exit branching off I-96.

From I-696, take exit 18 to I-75 north, then exit 65, 14 Mile Road. The shop is at 436 E 14 Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071, and a map app will show current ramps and the last turns.

What makes an install take one day or three?

Installs run 1 to 3 days. Three things move the number: the coverage level, whether the paint needs correction first, and your vehicle's size and complexity.

  • A bumper or partial front is the quick end, and full-body coverage is the long end.
  • Polishing out swirls and scratches before the film goes on adds time.
  • A large or complex body takes longer to pattern and finish than a small one.

Whatever the length, the car stays inside our shop, which is climate-controlled (heated and cooled), insured, and gated with an alarm, and the install ends with a 24-hour cure and a final inspection. At 21 miles, agree the drop-off and pickup days when you book.

Can the film come off later?

Yes. Film we install can be taken off professionally, and done properly, removal leaves no residue and does no harm to sound factory paint.

That is useful if you plan to sell the car or change its look. Bring it back to us for removal rather than peeling it yourself.

What warranty comes with paint protection film?

Two warranties apply: the manufacturer's 10-year limited warranty on the film, and Elite Auto Lab's limited lifetime installation warranty on our workmanship.

The film: The film we install, including satin and matte, carries the manufacturer's 10-year limited warranty, which runs from the date of professional installation and covers yellowing, cracking, crazing and fading. If the film has a manufacturing defect, the manufacturer repairs or replaces it at no cost.

The installation: Our limited lifetime installation warranty covers lifting, peeling and workmanship on the film we install.

Both are limited, so they have exclusions. The manufacturer's warranty excludes damage from accidents, rocks and improper cleaning, and a claim goes through the shop that installed the film with your warranty card and receipt. Ask us for the written terms of the installation warranty when you get your quote, and see our guide for the manufacturer's terms.
